This full day is for people who travel for birds. The white-sand forests of the Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve are home to endemic species, such as the Allpahuayo Antbird and the Mishana Tyrannulet, that barely exist outside these varillales. The walk goes looking for them: some show themselves, others give themselves away by their song.

The walk follows the trails of the INIA grounds, at km 25 of the Iquitos-Nauta road, through chamizal and varillal: the low, slender forest that grows on that sand. Birds don't appear on demand, so the whole morning, from 8:30 to 13:00, is given over to watching and listening without hurry.
