A mystical day in Allpahuayo

Here and there the forest opens into clearings that look deliberately planted: small gardens deep in the jungle. People in the Amazon tend to be wary of them, because they say they belong to the Chullachaqui. These places are called supaychacras, and Allpahuayo Mishana has several.
The walk visits them with an interpretive guide, passes the three great trees where the legend of the Ayaymama is told, and ends at a lupuna tree. Lunch is regional food in the maloca at the control post, and the group heads back to Iquitos in the afternoon.
Itinerary

6:30 – 7:00
Pick-up in Iquitos
- Departure from the meeting point towards the Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve.

8:30 – 9:30
Arrival at the 'Irapay' control post
- Visitors are registered at km 28 of the Iquitos-Nauta road.
- Briefing on the protected area and the rules of conduct.
- Box lunch is handed out.

9:30 – 13:30
The reserve's interpretive trails
- The mysterious Supaychacra.
- The three great trees and the legend of the Ayaymama.
- The lupuna tree.

14:00 – 16:00
Lunch in the maloca
- End of the walk and return to the 'Irapay' control post.
- Regional lunch in the maloca and free time.
